"I started writing this swirly psychedelic-inspired thing which ended up as the chorus. It was about getting stoned with some members of The Laurels many, many years ago. I had another song floating around which became the verse of this song...about some of the stupid things friends would get up to on a night out in Sydney many, many years ago. Kinda the antithesis to the swirly psychedelia that the song is inspired by. Less kaleidoscopes and strawberry fields more bone headed; crashing parties, nicking booze, tagging street signs, sitting in gutters and crumbling Chippendale terraces. Stupid shit. I decided to bung the two bits together and it seemed to work."
lyrics
When we get high this world is ours
And everything in it turns into a trinket to discard
Running around, upside down is every bin in this town
When we get high (high)
Looking forwards but running backwards
Falling, falling away from it all
Looking forwards but running back with you
When we get high (high)
When we get high it’s all coming down
These streets tonight are ours to kick around
And we get high (high)
Hey there’s a party
Where is the fridge, this sucks, whatcha lookin at
High (high)
Looking forwards but running backwards
Falling, falling away from it all
Looking forwards but running back with you
When we get high (high)
When we get high (high)
I’m looking forwards but running backwards
Falling, falling away from it all
Looking forwards but running back to you
When we get high (high)
